Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS Review and visitor reviews

Recently announced, the garmin nuvi 750, 760 and 770 series gps travel assistants are the answer to many peoples questions with the addition of new features and the standard issue features that used to be available on only a select few high-end models. The core function of the nuvi 750, 760, & 770 still hold up with Garmin’s top of the market reputation, with a new look and new set of additions that will have some enthusiasts drooling.

A new sleek and slim form factor mesh well with the gunmetal silver color of garmin’s nuvi 760 and 770 systems, while the 750 has a darker grey color that is visually delicious as well. The x50, x60 and x70 modeling structure still holds true with the nuvi 750 being the base unit, the nuvi 760 adding bluetooth and the nuvi 770 having transatlantic data preloaded as well for possible cross continent travelers.

Garmin GPS fans will be able to spot the difference between the 3 and the past series easily; with each of the models now coming standard with an FM transmitter (ability to relay sound through car audio system rather then the device itself), a hot 4.3 inch widescreen (480 by 272 pixels), and a newer and sensitive internal antenna that help make the shell and design of the new units that much sleek and attractive keeping it easy to slip into a pocket and mount or unmount in a car on the fly.

I decided to buy the Garmin nuvi 750 GPS last week and have been testing it thoroughly on a 3 day drive to visit some family alongside my Mercedes internal navigation screen to see if there would really any difference or benefit of having a 3rd party GPS system device for those of us with vehicles that already have preconfigured setups.

I have been nothing but surprised and impressed with the nuvi 750 compared to my internal GPS… it consistently picks different routes, which are both more logical and more consistent. The two most often picked the same route, but there were some serious hiccups looking back now with my included system when compared to the nuvi 750 GPS routing, and one of the most blatant and obvious differences was the times at which the routes were calculated and recalculated accurately when I purposely went off course to see how they both handled the situation.

We just picked up the Garmin 750 nuvi to put in the family vehicle and allow my wife to take our old garmin nuvi 660 exclusively in her own car as we fight over that like cats and dogs!!

This is one hot little unit folks – the new look and design of this badboy are as much an aesthetic upgrade as it is a portability upgrade with its slim shell. I don’t have too much to report in this garmin nuvi 750 review just yet, but so far there are a few obvious pro’s and con’s that I can point out until we take this cross country for the holidays:

Pro’s of the Garmin 750 GPS:

1. The new screen is more bright and vibrant with better contrast and glare resistance which makes it seem much easier and reliable to read in all sort of conditions of the cockpit
2. Solid, simple and intuitive… This might be said about the Nuvi 660 we have too, although there are a few upgrades and layout changes that are marked improvements on the UI
3. The new ’slim form factor’ is great, and makes it less bulky and invasive on the windshield. The disappearance of the antenna which sticks on the garmin nuvi 660 is a nice change and no loss in power to the sky has been seen yet (although it’s been all sun and no clouds so far)
4. Garmin’s name – what else can I say… Garmin GPS’s are hands down said to be the best and although I haven’t owned a competing unit, I’ll take the word of the Nuvi reviews on net to be tried and true already.

I got to play with a Nuvi 750 GPS for a few minutes at a local store and instantly I knew I was going to buy one (the salesman could tell too and was already counting the commission in his head) This thing is just wow type of cool, and as a traveling businessman that takes me across the states frequently I knew that the new garmin nuvi 750 would be a strong investment in saved time and frustration.

I have owned both the Garmin Nuvi 350 and 650 – and with the announcement that the garmin nuvi 750 GPS unit will be shipping in November of this year – I immediately preordered the system after a just a moments glance at some of the new features and changes to the hardware and software that have been made over the previous nuvi 350 and nuvi 650 systems.

One of the first things that stood out about the Garmin 750 system as I read through a few reviews and previews on the net, was the upgraded and sophisticated appearance change. I really love the new darker metallic colors, and I think that the new screen (supposed to be the brightest and best yet) will be better suited with a darker back drop and will make situations of high glare reading much less of an eye squinter.
